3.3.1 Class A ironing board cover cloth. The cloth for the class A shall have a minimum yarn count per inch (per 2.5 cm) of 48 x 44 minimum weigh before sizing of 3.5 oz/sq yd (116.7 g/sq m).
3.3.2 Class B ironing board cover cloth. The base cloth for the class B cover shall have a minimum yarn count per inch (per 2.5 cm) of 50 x 50 and minimum weight of 1.4 oz/sq yd (83.3 g/sq cm) before Teflon treatment or silicone-aluminum coating. The coating shall be uniformly applied to the face of the cover and shall not crock, transfer, or rub off during normal use. The coated cloth shall show no pin holes when help up to a bright light.
3.4 Workmanship. The finished ironing board, pad, cover, as applicable, shall be clean, well made, and free of any defects affecting appearance, function, or serviceability. The finished ironing board pad or ironing board cover shall free of tears, cuts, holes, weak spots, thin spots, skipped stitches, open seams, puckers, or other fabric or construction defects.
3.5 Measurement system. The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric values stated in parentheses are information for purposes only.
3.6 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PRACTICE
5.1 Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
6. PACKAGING
6.1 Packaging. Preservation, packing and marking shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order.
7. NOTES
7.1 Part Identification Number (PIN). Products conforming with this commercial item description shall be identified by a part number configuration consisting if a portion of the CID number, type, and class. An example of a part number configuration is shown below. This part numbering system is intended for identification and cross-indexing of the item within the federal cataloging system. The following part identification numbering procedure is for government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor.
EXAMPLE: AA2973B = Teflon treated or silicone-aluminum coated cotton ironing board cover.
